The Rotary Club of Ignacio is offering two types of scholarships for area high school graduating seniors for this coming fall academic year. One is a $10,000 scholarship called the Wulbern Scholarship; and the other(s) are one-time Rotary Club of Ignacio scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500. Each requires a separate written application and are due by June 1, 2020.
The club reports that the COVID-19 shutdown of physical school has thrown a curve ball to the scholarship process and the club urges students to apply quickly.
The Wulbern Scholarship is available to any graduating high school senior from a public or private high school in Marin County. The scholarship is a single, 4-year award of $10,000, paid in four installments dependent on the initial scholarship winner demonstrating ongoing proficiency in completing academic requirements of a full-time college course load. The ideal successful candidate is a 2020 graduating high school senior in good academic standing who can demonstrate while pursuing his or her high school degree:
An exceptional record of community service.
An ability to balance community service with academics, extra-curricular activities and professional goals.
Must be planning to attend a campus of the University of California system or California State University.
Must have a 3.0 or greater GPA.
May not be related to a member of the Rotary Club of Ignacio.
Candidates will be asked to complete and submit a written application by no later than June 1, 2020 and finalists will be scheduled for a personal interview. The successful Wulbern Scholarship winner and their parents or guardians will be invited to a Rotary Club of Ignacio Club meeting and be introduced to the Club.
