April 30, 2024 by Marin Leave a Comment

This is the device that prompted the shelter in place. It turned out to be safe.

April 30, 2024 – Around 11:00 AM, the Novato Police Department responded to Novato High School on a report of a possible explosive device on campus. The school staff acted immediately and moved into a “Shelter in Place” status for the safety of the students, while officers investigated.

It was determined the device was inactive and brought on campus to be used in a guest presentation for a history class. The speaker uses the device in their explanation and demonstration of a war experience. The shelter in place was lifted after the item was deemed safe and officers investigated the circumstances surrounding the incident. There is no threat to the students on campus or the surrounding community.

We appreciate the quick response from the school staff. The safety of our community remains our top priority. Give us a call at 415-897-4361 if you notice any suspicious behavior. In an emergency, call 9-1-1. Stay safe Novato!
