Get ready for Sausalito’s premier 4th of July celebration

June 21, 2024 by Marin Leave a Comment

The Fourth of July is Sausalito’s premier annual event. The day begins with a 10:00 a.m. parade along the Bridgeway waterfront, continues in the afternoon with a community picnic in Dunphy Park, and comes to a spectacular end with live music in Gabrielson Park followed by fireworks over Richardson Bay.

The complete schedule of the day’s activities can be found on the Fourth of July Festivities page on the City website.

Musical performers include the Cal Band Alumni Association marching band during the parade, Johnny Gunn and the Wanted at Dunphy Park, and Elena Keating and the R&B Allstars at Gabrielson Park.

Grand Marshal James Gabbert will ride at the head of the parade in an open convertible. Gabbert is being honored for his many years as a community leader and philanthropist, including helping to found the Sausalito on the Waterfront Foundation and stints as the chair of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the Sausalito Art Festival, and commodore of the Sausalito Yacht Club.

Pivotal Aeronautics is a sponsor of this year’s festivities and will launch a 12:30 p.m. demonstration flight of its new single-seat aircraft from a secure location adjacent to Dunphy Park. The Helix is all electric and features vertical takeoff and landing.

It’s not too late to participate in this year’s Fourth of July parade. To sign up your business, group, or organization please visit the registration page from Sausalito Parks and Recreation.

Parks and Recreation is also seeking individuals with classic convertibles to transport members of the City Council in the parade and volunteers to serve as judges to determine the best float, marching group, and vehicle. For more information, please send email to recreation@sausalito.gov.
