Sacramento man arrested for stealing Novato schools checks totaling $150k

On April 11th, 2024, it was reported to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office that checks issued by the Novato Unified School District were stolen from the mail and fraudulently deposited by an unknown subject(s). The stolen checks totaled over $150,000.00 in funds meant for various vendors used by NUSD for various school expenditures.

After a thorough investigation, Marin County Sheriff’s Office Detectives identified Kevonte Keosodsay, a 22-year-old male from Sacramento, as one of the suspects who deposited the stolen checks. On June 19th, 2024, a search warrant was served at Keosodsay’s residence in Sacramento, and further evidence of stolen NUSD funds was discovered. Keosodsay was booked into the Marin County Jail on several fraud and theft related charges.
