July 16, 2024
Here are the top policy items on Marin County Board of Supervisors’ agenda for Tuesday, July 16. The meeting is to begin at 9 AM.
Update on State Budget
Shortly after convening, the Board will receive an update from the County Executive staff on the 2024-2025 State of California budget and how it affects the County of Marin budget. (Staff memo).
Appointment of Agricultural Commissioner
Shortly after convening, the Board will consider confirming the appointment of Joe Deviney to the position of Agricultural Commissioner / Weights and Measures Director effective July 21. Deviney has led Santa Clara County’s ag department for the past 12 years. He is to replace the retired Stefan Parnay. (Staff report).
Community Development Fee Adjustments
The Board will hear a request from the Community Development Agency to approve a resolution authorizing annual adjustments for affordable housing impact fees, inclusionary housing in-lieu fees, and commercial linkage fees. Affordable housing fees support the essential and strategic development of affordable housing options. Since the inception of the fees in 1980, these funds have helped support the creation of affordable housing options throughout Marin County. (Staff report).
Civil Grand Jury Response
The County Executive’s Office will present a proposed response to the 2023-24 Civil Grand Jury Report titled “With Power Comes Responsibility – Youths Under Age 16 Operating Class 2 E-Bikes: A Safety Risk.” The draft response shows that the County agrees with two findings, wholly or partially disagrees with four findings, and requires further analysis on four more findings. Staff recommends that the Board concur and adopt the proposed response and authorize the Board President to forward it to the presiding Marin County Superior Court judge. (Staff report).
Tentative Agreement with Bargaining Unit
The Department of Human Resources requests that the Board adopt a tentative addendum agreement between the County and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Local 16, for a one-year extension to the current 2022-2024 Collective Bargaining Agreement, extending it until July 14, 2025. Board approval would include salary and fringe benefit changes. (Staff report).
