$2.9 million raised in Fairfax to purchase the Wall property for preservation

Fairfax Town Council members said they are “thrilled” to announce that the fundraising campaign for the Wall Property has successfully reached its goal of $2.9 million.

In a press release, the town credited the success to “incredible support from the Council, Marin Open Space Trust, Fairfax Open Space Committee, and the generous Fairfax community,” adding “the acquisition and permanent protection of this valuable land will soon be a reality.”

Over 200 individuals contributed, with nearly half of the funds raised coming from personal donations. The goal is to finalize the purchase and transfer the property to the Town of Fairfax by the end of September.

On Aug. 7, the Town Council approved a maintenance agreement between the Town and the Marin County Open Space District (MCOSD). The proposed agreement was approved by the Marin Board of Supervisors.

The agreement outlines the responsibilities of the Town and MCOSD for the routine maintenance of trails on the Wall Property.  You can find the agreement here.
