On Sunday, Aug. 18, just after midnight, an SRPD officer noticed a vehicle being driven by a subject wearing rubber gloves and a ski mask in the area of Anderson Drive and Irwin Street.
The officer also observed that the vehicle was speeding and had registration that was two months expired. The officer stopped the car for the traffic violations and contacted the suspicious driver.
A wants and warrants check revealed the driver was on probation with an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest for weapons violations out of Sonoma County. The driver was arrested.
During a search, the suspect was found in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine, several plastic bags, and a digital scale.
Additionally, the suspect was determined not to be the registered owner of the vehicle, however was in possession of the registered owner’s driver’s license and credit cards. The suspect was also in possession of an improvised key used to steal vehicles. All this prompted the officer to speak with the registered owner of the vehicle who did not yet realize their car had been stolen.
The suspect was booked into jail on charges of felony possession of drugs for sale, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen credit cards, violation of probation, and the outstanding felony warrant.
