
A press release from the City of Sausalito:
With campaign season for the November 5 election now underway, the City of Sausalito would like to remind residents, businesses, and property owners that the display of campaign signs is subject to the following regulations in the Sausalito Municipal Code:
- Campaign signs are allowed on private residential and commercial property during campaign periods as long as the campaign sign is no greater than 16 square feet, in aggregate.
- Campaign signs may not be posted on public property, including parks and park structures, public rights-of-way, and utility poles and structures.
- Campaign signs must be removed within 10 days following the election.
The City would also like to encourage campaign supporters to engage in respectful and courteous sign behavior during election season:
- Do not remove, cover, or deface campaign signs. Theft or vandalism crimes could be charged for these violations.
- Obtain permission from renters/property owners before signs are posted.
- Do not post multiple copies of the same sign in one location.
If you believe that a campaign sign has been improperly posted on public property, please submit a maintenance request.
