September 2, 2024 by Marin Leave a Comment

On 9/2/2024, at approximately 0038 hours, Marin County Fire Dispatch received a call of a structure fire, located in the Tamalpais Valley area of Southern Marin. The resident called and informed dispatch that a fire had begun inside the residence, trapping his non-ambulatory roommate inside the home.

Fire personnel and law enforcement arrived on scene to fight the fire, and attempt evacuations. The @southernmarinfire @marincountyfire @centralmarinfire @tiburonfiredistrict and PG&E personnel were able to put the fire out and prevent the spread to additional structures. Once the fire was extinguished, it was determined that one subject was still inside, ultimately succumbing to the blaze.

Marin County Sheriff’s Office detectives, along with the Southern Marin Fire District Fire Marshall have begun an investigation into the cause of the fire. A forensic postmortem examination with routine toxicology testing is scheduled for later this week. The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office – Coroner Division.
