Opinion: Why no 2nd debate?

After Tuesday’s debate, Team Harris immediately came out asking for a rematch. Donald Trump, however, said that’s enough.

Why is that?

Didn’t Kamala win the debate against Trump? That’s what the talking heads say. Well, maybe the talking heads were leading with their heart and not their head.

Donald Trump said he didn’t need another debate. He’s done one with Joe Biden and now one with his last-minute substitute Kamala Harris. “The debate polls,” he told the New York Post, “every single poll, had us winning it.”

Paul Ingrassia of The Gateway Pundit explains:

Fortunately, Americans have historically been great bs-detectors.  Their penchant for nonsense-detection has been vindicated in all the reliable post-debate polling.  For example, when undecided voters across the seven crucial battlegrounds this cycle were asked which of the two candidates they would vote for, Donald Trump won handily among the sampled group: the 45th President’s prospects improved by three points overall after his debate performance.

He adds:

President Trump won not just on substance, but on style also.  While it’s true that his responses were not the products of rote memorization, they were authentic – and voters crave, more than anything else, authenticity from their political leaders.  Indeed, it was this authenticity that endeared President Trump to the masses in 2016, and it’s what continues to separate President Trump from the pack, making him the most beloved politician in our generation.

You don’t have to buy what Ingrassia is selling in regards to the “beloved” status of Mr. Trump. But it is wise to pay attention to his “authentic” point and the poll numbers. If Trump moved the needle like these numbers show, he doesn’t need another debate.

Personally, I’d like to see another debate with better moderators who might be able to pierce the veil of fakery that shrouds Kamala Harris’ candidacy. I don’t think we’ve ever seen a political makeover like we’re seeing now. There’s no shortage of video of Mrs. Harris supporting wildly liberal positions (tax-payer funded sex changes for illegal immigrants?). I’d like the real Kamala Harris better explained on national TV.

Without a second debate (Trump says third), we’re not going to see that. Too bad. More information is always better. But, I get what Trump’s saying.
