The Lark Theater presents ‘Simply Said’

September 28, 2024 by Marin Leave a Comment

A new series at the Lark Theater fashioned after the NPR Radio Show – The Moth Radio Hour

WHEN & WHERE: SIMPLY SAIDtakes place at the historic Lark Theater on the 3rd Tuesday of each month starting October 15th at 7pm for OPENING NIGHT.  (Doors 6pm)  Hosted by writer/actor and storytelling teacher Corey Rosen.

WHAT:  Opening night features eight seasoned storytellers (from NPR, The Moth, Second City, Off-Broadway, and more ) who will share true, personal, 5-minute stories around a theme and illustrate how it’s done!

Each show features a curated lineup of experienced storytellers, blended with opportunities for audience members to put their name in “the hat” to tell their own story based on the monthly theme.  One can participate or simply enjoy as part of the audience

Corey Rosen is a writer, actor, visual effects producer, and storytelling teacher based in San Francisco, California. He hosts The Moth StorySlams and GrandSlams, and has been featured on The Moth Radio Hour, Alice Radio’s “The Sarah and Vinnie Show,” and KFOG’s “The Finch Files” Podcast. Corey began his career writing for Jim Henson Productions, Comedy Central, and Lucasfilm.  Corey is a performer at BATS Improv, one of the world’s foremost centers for Improvisational Theater and is the author of “Your Story, Well Told: Creative Strategies to Develop and Perform Stories that Wow an Audience.”  Instagram, TikTok and Facebook: @storyrosen.

How it Works
Stories must be 5 minutes or less, spoken aloud (not read), just plain-spoken word about something you have experienced personally.  This is spontaneous with no auditions or rehearsals. If you wish to tell a story, each session you’ll have an opportunity to put your name in a hat!  Who knows who will be chosen?

General Admission – $25 (members $20)  TICKETS
