About ‘Marin Women’s Hall of Fame’

The ‘Marin Women’s Hall of Fame’ recognizes women of distinction in Marin County, preserves their stories, educates the public on their contributions, and inspires future generations of women and girls. Since its inception in 1987, more than 160 women have been inducted into the ‘Marin Women’s Hall of Fame’ for their passion, leadership, volunteerism, and dedication to service. Through their actions, ‘Marin Women’s Hall of Fame’ inductees have demonstrated a drive to ensure the progress and well-being of Marin County.

The Class of 2025 inductees were chosen by an anonymous selection committee. YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley received approximately 100 nomination submissions for recognition this year.

The ‘Marin Women’s Hall of Fame’ was co-founded by YWCA, American Association of University Women (AAUW), and the Marin Women’s Commission. Before the start of the ‘Marin Women’s Hall of Fame,’ virtually no records of women’s achievements had been recorded in Marin County.

Previous ‘Marin Women’s Hall of Fame’ inductees include noted author Isabel Allende, environmental activist Phyllis Faber, filmmaker and social change agent Jennifer Siebel Newsom, educator and community activist Bettie Hodges, elected official Barbara Boxer, athlete Rosie Casals, college president Sister M. Samuel Conlan, and theater aficionado Ann Brebner.

YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley’s ‘Marin Women’s Hall of Fame’ video archive, which includes interviews with inductees dating back to 1988, is available online.
