Smoke visible on Mt. Tam during pile burning exercise

January 27, 2025 by Marin Leave a Comment

*PILE BURNING ON MT. TAM WATERSHED THE WEEK OF JAN. 27*

Marin Water will be pile burning starting today (Jan. 27) in an area near the Bon Tempe Treatment Plant and Pilot Knob Trail. This activity is part of our ongoing fire fuel removal efforts on the Mt. Tam Watershed and will continue for additional days this week if conditions are right. Smoke coming from the watershed may be visible during this work. Please avoid calling 9-1-1 to report smoke in the Bon Tempe area of Mt. Tam resulting from this operation.

Pile burning is one of many methods, including mechanical removal, manual pulling, grazing and others, that contribute to Marin Water’s proactive approach to fire fuel management and a more resilient, ecologically healthy watershed. Learn more: marinwater.org/WatershedResiliency.
