SRPD formally welcomed Officer Karina Ornelas. She took the oath of office and was officially sworn in as a San Rafael Police Officer. Officer Ornelas’ family was in attendance during the ceremony, and Officer Ornelas’ mother pinned her badge.
Officer Ornelas came to SRPD with law enforcement experience after lateralling from another law enforcement agency. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Sociology with a minor in Translation Studies.
Officer Ornelas has great career aspirations and will be a significant asset to the San Rafael community and the police department. We look forward to supporting and watching her grow in her career in law enforcement.

I pray she is instrumental in the department especially when it comes to actually doing SOMETHING for people in the community. While living in San Rafael, I had to call 911 multiple times, and never once received adequate help or protection. Tragic.
