It’s almost comical how Democrats can’t get out of the trap of whether transgender “women” should be allowed to play in girl’s sports.
Gov. Gavin Newsom already put the issue behind him. On his first podcast, he proclaimed it is “deeply unfair” for a biological man to play girl’s sports.
He’s done.
He’s free.
Yet, Democrats continue to struggle.
Consider newly minted Democratic Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who tried to call this a “local” issue, and then stumbled badly when NBC asked her simply if she agreed with Gov. Newsom:
She said: Well, look, I think you’ll have to talk to Mr. Newsom and his podcast, and we’re all talking about it now because it’s good controversy. For me, I grew up playing three seasons of sports. In Michigan, sports is like our religion, right? I wouldn’t be here, I think, without the leadership training that I got in women’s sports.”
The question, senator, was whether you agreed with Gov. Newsom. Why not say, “Yes, I do,” and move on?
Almost simultaneously, Sen. Adam Schiff gave a similar answer when on ABC’s “This Week.”
He said: Look, I played in sports. Our kids played in sports. I want all young people to have the experience of playing in sports, every young person. And I want those sports to be fair. I want those sports to be safe, and I have confidence that local schools and local communities can make those decisions without the federal government making them for them.
Sorry, Democrats. Trying to lay it off as a local issue isn’t going to get you out of the trap you willingly stepped into by catering to your crazy base. Take a look at the picture above, let the expression on the face of that high school girl as she is being choked by a trans “woman” roll over your conscience, and know the only way out is to go “Full Newsom” — chew your foot off and limp away.
