Eric Lucan, in his first term as a Marin County Supervisor has announced he will seek promotion to the 12th Assembly District currently held by Damon Connolly. Meanwhile, Rep. Connolly has announced he will seek a promotion to the State Senate.
Here is Lucan’s press release on the matter:
Supervisor Eric Lucan—already with a robust list of supporters—has officially announced his candidacy for California’s 12th Assembly District. The seat is currently held by Damon Connolly, who last week announced he would not seek reelection to the Assembly and instead run for State Senate.
Lucan, Marin’s 5th District Supervisor, also serves as Board Chair for the Transportation Authority of Marin. Among his long history of service, he is a First 5 Commissioner and spent 11 years as a Novato City Council member (including three terms as Mayor). Recognizing that policy is about people and meeting the everyday needs of our communities, Eric has focused on economic stability, protecting our environment, wildfire preparation, and resident affordability. He has led initiatives to meet housing needs for seniors and expand additional housing options across the board, enhance sustainable public transportation, and continue the transition away from our reliance on fossil fuels.
Eric has a Masters in Business Administration, has held management positions in several successful companies, and was, until his election to Supervisor, the Chief Marketing Officer for Mike’s Bikes, a North Bay-grown business. Eric is proficient with large, complex budgets and has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by small businesses.
Born and raised in the North Bay, he and his wife Kiley now have their own young family. From his early years as a Soccer Coach and Church Youth Director, Eric Lucan has always been drawn to service. Years of community engagement have led to Eric’s deep insight into the fundamental needs of Sonoma and Marin businesses and residents—especially older adults and growing families.
Eric began his campaign with a broad range of support from local leaders.
In his endorsement, Congressman Jared Huffman noted: “Eric has that rare blend of smarts, courage, and heart, which allows him to serve our residents with compassion, effectiveness, and purpose. Eric Lucan will be a relentless and capable champion for our communities. Please join me in supporting Eric Lucan for Assembly.”
Sara Aminzadeh, a State Environmental Leader and Kentfield School Board Trustee has also come out as a strong early endorser, saying, “Eric Lucan is a proven leader— consistently delivering for North Bay families with integrity, focus, and respect. With so much at stake, I care deeply about who represents our communities in the Assembly, and I’m proud to support Eric Lucan.”
In talking about why this race is so important, Eric said, “When I look into the eyes of my young kids I’m reminded of what really matters, and the power and responsibility we have at the local and state level. With courage and tenacity, I’m ready to bring my years of experience and effectiveness to the California State Legislature. I look forward to fighting for all of us in Sacramento.”
Lucan’s campaign will kick off with a local launch event on May 30th. Find out more about the event and learn about the campaign at EricLucan.com.
The Primary Election for California Assembly District 12 will take place on June 2, 2026.
One needs to look no further than the Novato Theater Scam, the Novato real estate that was sold to a friend for $11,000 (with the public not being able to make a bid on it), or the criminals and destruction of our wetlands on Binford Road….All on Eric Lucan’s watch. Lucan is no friend of the environment or Novato.
