Earlier this morning (5/25) around 3:19AM, we responded to reports of a roll-over collision, which caused the vehicle fire. The collision occurred near the railroad crossing on Hamilton Pkwy. Both occupants of the vehicle were able to get out of the vehicle but sustained moderate injuries and were transported to the hospital for care.
The driver was identified as Shawn Kessler, a 31-year-old Novato resident, and determined to be under the influence of alcohol. He was placed under arrest at the hospital and will be booked into the Marin County Jail once medically cleared for felony driving under the Influence causing injury.
We would like to thank the SMART personnel for responding to assist with the investigation. This is an important reminder that driving under the influence can lead to severe consequences or even cause death. Please do not drink and drive, especially this holiday weekend and keep in mind the severity of a simple decision.
