In January of 2026, the Marin County Specialized Investigative Unit became aware of a package, which was intended to be shipped to a residence in Novato containing 400 tablets of Tapentadol, a schedule two controlled substance similar to oxycodone.
On January 20th, SIU detectives executed a search warrant at the Novato residence and made contact with Carolyn Connor (Age 71 Novato) at the front door. Connor was uncooperative with detectives and alerted her son, Eric Garcia (Age 37, Novato) of the presence of law enforcement. As Connor was being detained by detectives, Garcia was observed retreating and concealing himself down a hallway and out of view of the detectives.
After some brief negotiating, Garcia surrendered and was detained.
SIU Detectives conducted a search of the residence and located additional Tapentadol tablets, over 3.5 pounds of suspected cocaine, sales quantities of suspected MDMA, sales quantities of suspected LSD, sales quantities of suspected ketamine, various other suspected illegal narcotics, and evidence indicative of illegal narcotic sales being conducted by Garcia.
Connor and Garcia were booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of numerous felony narcotic-related charges.
