Dear editor,
Registrar of Voters, Lynda Roberts, and her staff at the Marin County Elections Department are dedicated to running a safe, secure, and accessible election as we all deal with the challenges of the COVID19 pandemic. The League of Women Voters is supporting the Elections Department’s outreach to inform voters about changes in the election process because of COVID19. Voters can help by staying informed and planning ahead.
One change for the Nov. 3 election is that all active registered voters in California will automatically receive a vote-by-mail ballot. These will be sent in the mail starting October 5. If you are not registered to vote, register today by going to registertovote.ca.gov. If you are already registered, please check your voter registration information to make sure all of your information is accurate and complete at voterstatus.sos.ca.gov and re-register if anything needs to be changed. Don’t wait! Do this now to avoid delays getting your ballot in the mail and to help the Elections Department solve any issues early.
The deadline to register to vote online is Oct. 19. After that date, your registration options change. We encourage you to sign up for WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov. This valuable tool tracks your vote-by-mail ballot and will send you notices when your ballot is mailed, received, and counted. Remember, the Marin County Elections Dept. is always your best source of voting and election information. Go to marinvotes.org or call 415-473-6456.
