Road Of Death: At dusk on Camino Alto it’s absolute carnage as the drivers of vehicles accidentally (it is presumed) hit wildlife crossing the road. A concerned caller told police that turkey and deer and other such critters are nightly meeting their end on this Road of Death. Police should station a cop in the area every evening to protect the wildlife, the caller said.
Playdate Caper: A woman on Ashford Avenue had a playdate with her children’s friends and moms. One of the mothers was in her closet and, she believes, stole a pair of diamond earrings. Report filed. No more playdates.
Cautious Teacher: A teacher became wary of a man in a van who parked next to the school and appeared to be watching the children. She asked the cops to check it out, which they did. The man said he was broken down and awaiting tow. Police stuck around until the van was towed.
Bike Stolen: A mountain bike was taken from Ralston Avenue overnight. Serial number given to police.
Leaf Blower: A gas-powered leaf blower was reported operating on Blithedale Avenue. And, another one was reported on Amicita Avenue and still another one on Daffodil Lane. They’re everywhere!
Tax Returns: A citizen found several mailed envelopes containing tax returns strewn about on the path behind Whole Foods.
Package Opened: A citizen who lives on Country Club Drive returned home to find a delivered package that had been ripped open.
Neighbors: A woman on Lovell Avenue left a note on her neighbor’s mailbox related to an ongoing dispute. He then “went off” on her verbally, she said. She called the cops. Police advising.
Dog Woes: A resident of Rose Avenue reported that a dog on the street leaps at runners and barks them. Police blacked out the name of the dog in the police report to protect the innocent. That’s how Mill Valley rolls.
Electric Cello: A noise complaint was lodged against a residence on Miller Avenue. Amplified music and singing was taking place and it included, gawd forbid, a cello and trombone. Police notified the home and they said they “will play one more song and shut it down.”
Rockslide: A rockslide occurred on Oct. 21 on Molino Avenue. A car was damaged, a citizen reported to police.
Chainsaw: A gas-powered chainsaw was being used on a red flag day on Sandy Lane. Call out the National Guard.
Novato
Burglary: On Oct. 12 Novato police received a report of a burglary on Oakwood Drive. In the same reporting period Novato’s finest handled a plethora of other calls including a noise disturbance on Enfrente Road and on Second Street, an unwanted person on Diablo Avenue and a child abuse report on Andreas Circle.
Assault: On Oct. 13 police arrested a man for assault with a deadly weapon on Novato Boulevard.
Drunk: On Oct. 14, Novato police rounded up a public drunk on First Street. They also handled a vandalism complaint on Center Road and parking violation on Martin Drive.
Homeless: On Oct. 15, police responded to a homeless encampment complaint on Seventh Street as well as several “suspicious” things around town.
Shots Fired: Residents on Cambridge Street reported hearing shots fired on Oct. 16. Police rolled but were unable to locate the source.
Party Complaint: On Oct. 17, police rolled to the scene of two party complaints, one on Center Road and the other on Third Street. There also was a drunk arrested on Diablo Avenue.
Assault: On Oct. 18 police responded to an assault on Vintage Way.
Sausalito
Oct. 15 – 19, 2020
Lights, Camera: A woman called police about a man on Bridgeway who was in his vehicle with lights and cameras set up. She said he talked to her daughter and was afraid he might be a perv of some sort. Police talked to the man. He said he was a Fox News correspondent on assignment and had not talked to any young girls.
Wedding: A loud party was reported on the third floor and deck of a hotel on Bridgeway. The complainer said they were not wearing masks and not social distancing. It turned out to be a wedding. Police stood outside and said the noise was not loud. Despite the social distancing complaint, they did not stick around to see if the bride and groom practiced it all night.
Neighbor Dispute: Two neighbors hate each other and have tangled with each other over property lines and tree trimming. On Oct. 15, one neighbor visited the other neighbor to let them know about a tree-trimming project. It didn’t go well. Police were called to make them aware that trouble is brewing.
PO’d Parker: A man who had parked illegally at a real estate office (he said he ran in to get change for the parking meter) was ticketed by the time he came out. He called the police and said it was “very unfair.” That and $3 will get you a medium coffee at Starbucks.
Theft: A tool bag with about $300 worth of tools was taken from the driveway of a home on Marin Avenue on Oct. 16.
Bike Theft: A bike chained to a railing at a residence on Sausalito Boulevard was taken on Oct. 16.
Hot Dog: A dog was seen in a grey Acura sedan. Windows up. Police were called and found the owner in a nearby store. However, contrary to the initial call, the dog was not hot and not in danger.
Ash Flicker: A vigilant Sausalito citizen alerted police to a man in a black Toyota SUV with his hand out the window with a cigarette, flicking the ash out the window. Caller told police he had pictures if needed. The ash flicker was gone when police arrived.
Conversationalist: A shirtless man was seen in the middle of Richardson Street talking to himself. Police stopped the man and told him to get out of the street.
Swedes Beach: A citizen called police on Oct. 18 and accused the police of putting up “illegal signs” saying the beach is private. He walks his dog on the beach and is a resident but when he does he gets yelled at because of the signs. He said he’s called the PD for three days and can’t get anyone to call him back. Several residents called 911 about the signs, the cop log shows.
