Fairfax says ‘Yes’ to changing name of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard

March 9, 2021 by Marin Leave a Comment

The town of Fairfax last week broke with the towns of Ross and Larkspur and decided to rename it’s portion of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard after the Miwok. That sets up the possibility that the road will have a patchwork of official names as it goes through the county.

Ross and Larkspur said “no” to the change idea last month, though they said they would be open to an honorary name so long as the official and legal name remains the same so as not to cause a hardship to people living along the road now.

Marin County and San Anselmo have yet to take up the issue.
