The shortened 2021 football season in Marin County came to a close over the weekend, leaving players grateful that at least they had the chance to play at all.
Novato (2-2) spoiled San Rafael’s Homecoming game with an 18-12 victory over the host Bulldogs (0-4 MCAL, 1-4) on Friday night.

San Rafael will graduate several key seniors, including quarterback Danny Dunn, receiver Samuel Tu, lineman Jesse Trujillo and running back Javier Diaz, among others. The Bulldogs will return a young, but experienced, core of players next season, with running back Harry Pocock and receiver Jack Healy expected to lead the way.
“The seniors really provide a lot of leadership,” Healy said after the Bulldogs’ only win this season, a 42-20 rout of Healdsburg.
Novato is also expected to bring back an experienced core of young players next season, with JJ Moreno and Jakob Peterson possibly spearheading the effort.
In other season finales over the weekend:

The Pirates of HS 1327 in San Anselmo held off Terra Linda, 30-20, in a high-energy affair.
