Water restrictions that would require Marin County residents to restrict water usage or face a $250 fine may be coming when the Marin Municipal Water District meets today (Tuesday, April 21).
Marin would be one of the first big counties to take the action in preparation of a drought.
Marin residents would be prohibited from watering their lawns more than once a week, washing their own cars, power washing items on their property and refilling swimming pools.
The water agency has seven reservoirs that capture rain, much of it from the slopes of Mount Tamalpais. They contain only 57% of the water they normally hold this time of year. That’s the lowest point in nearly 40 years.
