Letters: Dogs should be licensed

April 30, 2021 by Marin Leave a Comment

Dear editor,

415 883 4621 is the number of the Marin Humane Society. If you are at Dog Bone Park in Novato and you see unlicensed dogs, call them.

I have encountered  a good many people with dogs without a license. On one visit to the park, I counted 12 unlicensed dogs.

On warm hot days by 9 a.m. the parking area is full and people park  their vehicles in areas where they are not supposed to park. Many have small dogs, unlicensed, and do NOT  use the small area designated for them but  keep them in the large area.

Mothers with children allow their  kids to climb and play on the dog ladders and tunnels specifically used for dogs. These are posted with signs stating such  for pets only..

I have encountered one person with three  unlicensed dogs, and several others of all kinds of breeds.  Asking them politely  “Is your dog licensed?”   will result in snide remarks as well as  “What’s YOUR  problem?”

Can’t  the Humane Society do a weekly check for unlicensed dogs at Dog Bone Park?
