Mill Valley’s 13 All-Stars rejoice after Grayson Roberts hits a game-tying HR vs Mark West in Section 1 play.

The summer memories are building, game by game, as the Mill Valley Little League All-Stars play all over the North Bay. Things crest with an exciting climax this Sunday at Joe Wagner Field in Larkspur, when District 3 champions are crowned in 10s, 11s and 12s.

To the action on the field:

13s/Intermediate 50-70 All Stars

Alameda 15, Mill Valley 5 — In a Section 1 elimination game at Mark West School in Santa Rosa on the 4th of July, the dream of winning Sections and advancing to NorCals ended for the Mill Valley 13s when demanding double-elimination tournament pitching demands exceeded the team’s supply.

Mill Valley led the game, 4-3, entering the 5th inning, based on a Scott Olinger RBI double to plate Hudson Boose, a Cooper Mitchell RBI single to score Olinger, a Devin Curtis RBI single and heads-up base running by Colin Cann to score on a wild pitch.

But Alameda teed off in the 5th and 6th innings, scoring 12 runs in the two frames to end Mill Valley’s run. The District 3 champs came, heads high.

Mark West 10, Mill Valley 8 — In a tense Section 1 winner’s bracket game on July 3 in Santa Rosa, Mill Valley and tournament host Mark West traded haymakers throughout, and the game ended when a Mill Valley 7th inning rally ended with the tying run at the plate.

Grayson Roberts electrified the dugout and Mill Valley fans with a dramatic, game-tying two-run home run in the 5th inning, and Colin Cann threw 2 and 1/3 innings of one-run ball against a robust Mark West lineup to highlight Mill Valley’s attack. Cooper Mitchell had two hits and scored two runs for Mill Valley, which tumbled into the loser’s bracket after this close game.

Mill Valley 11, Alameda 1 — Section 1 play in Santa Rosa got off to a roaring start on July 1 for the 13s, as Scott Olinger and Eddie Kideckel, a pair of southpaws, combined to shut down Alameda’s big bats in a five-inning mercy rule. Olinger fanned five in three innings, and Kideckel did not allow a hit in his two frames.

At the plate, Mill Valley thrived. Olinger had two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs; Grayson Roberts tripled as part of a two-hit day, and drove in two; Lucas DiPippa drove in a pair with a double and Colt Crum Usich drove in three with a pair of hits.

12s All-Stars

Novato South 7, Mill Valley 1 — Henry Bennett and Henry Tuttle each had a pair of hits for Mill Valley in a District 3 pool play loss on July 1. Trey Sasso chipped in with a double. On the mound, Jacob Razon threw a scoreless inning, and Lukas Welter threw two innings of one-run ball.

Twin Cities 4, Mill Valley 1 — In District 3 pool play on June 30, Mill Valley could not rev up the bats at Joe Wagner Field in Larkspur. Ryder Weber went 2-for-3 to lead the way in the loss. On the mound, Asa Abedin threw two innings of one-run ball.

Mill Valley 8, San Francisco 4 — Luke Nurney threw four dominant innings of one-run ball, and drove in two at the plate to pace Mill Valley in District 3 pool play June 28 at Boyle Park. Henry Tuttle had a three-hit day, and Trey Sasso doubled as part of a two-hit day.

11s All-Stars

Mill Valley 7, Novato North 5 — In a thrilling comeback that capped an undefeated run through District 3 pool play, Thomas Strong stroked a tie-breaking two-run double to finish off a four-run sixth inning and lead Mill Valley to a win on July 2 at Babe Silva Field in Novato.

Trailing, 5-3, in the 6th, Bradley Marshall drew a bases-loaded walk to score Colton Zinn, then Alex Radics hit a fielder’s choice ground ball to score Hudson Williams, setting up Strong’s hero turn. Strong drove in three for the game.

Terje Steele was dominant in relief, pitching five innings and not allowing an earned run, striking out six. Steele also went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Mill Valley 2, Novato South 0 — Bradley Marshall shined on the mound in District 3 pool play at Boyle Park on June 30, hurling 5 and 1/3 innings of shutout ball before handing the ball to Henry Edwards for the final two outs in a classic pitcher’s duel that only ended when shortstop Hudson Williams speared a line drive to kill off a Novato South threat.

Mill Valley didn’t score until the sixth inning, when Colton Zinn singled in Finn Reilly, then Dylan Murphy followed with an RBI single.

Mill Valley 12, Twin Cities 5 — Mill Valley banged out 15 hits in District 3 pool play, led by Bradley Marshall’s three knocks, and two doubles and three RBIs from Henry Edwards. Colton Zinn added two hits and two RBIs in the onslaught.

10s All-Stars

West Marin 15, Mill Valley 10 — In a wild District 3 pool play game at Boyle on July 2, Noah Schick threw two scoreless innings and Trip Goldmacher had two hits and two RBIs to aid Mill Valley’s cause. Boden Van Pelt went 3-for-3 and drove in a pair, and Ethan Cann scored three runs, while Griffen Newby drove in three.

Mill Valley 10, Novato North 0 — Tianu Koss shut down Novato North in District 3 pool play on July 1, striking out seven in four shutout innings. The southpaw only allowed one hit. At the plate, Niki Welter went 3-for-3 with a double in the romp.

Mill Valley 10, San Francisco 3 — Niki Welter cruised in District 3 pool play on June 28 at Boyle Park, as the lefty struck out eight in four shutout innings. Trip Goldmacher chipped in with two hits for the winners.
