Dear editor,
I read with interest the present homeless situation at Lee Garner park as the Novato Advance reported from a court filing. The city, along with the police, are to be congratulated in their efforts to help (and respond) with lots of patience with the homeless.
I read where the leader Jason Sarris states he can not leave the park as it offers therapeutic shade and moisture for his severe skin condition. Perhaps he can be provided with a large umbrella, and some lotion to cool and relieve itching, sunburn, poison oak, insect bites, etc.
How about the citizens and taxpayers of Novato, who are uncomfortable with the homeless camping out in a city park. And what of those businesses hurt by the lack of patrons. Who will compensate them? What are my rights? When can I go eat comfortably at STARS restaurant again. What about Creekside Bakery?
