Chipper Week ahead for Sausalito

September 18, 2021 by Marin Leave a Comment

Clearing excess brush from your property is never a bad idea, particularly during wildfire season. To make it easier for Sausalito residents to dispose of branches pruned from trees and shrubs, a chipper crew from Fire Safe Marin will be in Sausalito during the week of Sept. 27.

Visits from the chipper are by reservation on a first come, first served basis. When capacity is reached, registrants will be placed on a wait list.

Once you have a reservation, piles should be ready at the curb by 8 a.m. Monday and will be picked up by Friday. Lay all vegetation in your pile with the thick end of branches facing toward the street so that they can be easily picked up and placed in the chipper.

Branches in excess of 8 inches in diameter cannot be chipped. For additional details on what can and cannot be put in the chipper, please visit the Chipper Day website. Bamboo, pampas grass, and palm fronds can be placed in a separate pile to be hauled away by the chipper crew.

Fire Safe Marin is a non-profit organization funded by the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority, the California Fire Foundation, and grants from local, state, and federal agencies. In fulfilling its mission to create a safe and fire-adapted community in Marin, Fire Safe Marin partners with local fire districts, community organizations, landscape professionals, utilities, and insurance companies.
