AWHS’s Zach Castrejon weaves through the Richmond Oiler defense on the way to a 60+ yard touchdown run during AWHS’s 41-0 victory in Richmond on Friday (Sept. 24). That sets up a battle of the undefeated between Archie Williams and the 4-0 San Marin High School Mustangs of Novato this Friday (Oct. 2). See more on page 4A.

As Marin high schools head into Week 5 of the varsity football season, the San Marin Mustangs and the Archie Williams Peregrine Falcons emerged undefeated, setting up a battle this Friday between the teams.

Marin Catholic

The Marin Catholic Wildcats played their first home game this varsity prep football season last Saturday (Sept. 25) and treated their fans to a 56-16 thumping of Antioch. The win featured three “pick-sixes” — interceptions for touchdowns. The 4-1 Wildcats have a bye week before heading to San Rafael High School on Saturday (Oct. 9) to face the Bulldogs.

San Marin

Who wouldn’t let the Dogs out? San Marin, that’s who.

The San Marin varsity football team went into the Bulldogs back yard in San Rafael and defeated those puppies, 49-0.

The Mustangs are now 4-0 and will take on the 4-0 Archie Williams High School Falcons 7 p.m. Friday (Oct. 1) at AWHS.

San Rafael

After a humbling 49-0 defeat at home by one Novato team (the San Marin Mustangs),  the San Rafael varsity football team heads to Novato to face the Novato High School Hornets on Saturday (Oct. 2). The Bulldogs are 2-2 this season. The Hornets have a record of 1-3.

Archie Williams

The Archie Williams High School varsity football team easily slid through the Richmond Oilers last week, 41-0. The 4-0 Peregrine Falcons will now take on the 4-0 San Marin Mustangs on Friday (Oct. 1).

Novato

Activity in the nest was much subdued last week after the Novato Hornets suffered a crushing loss by the Redwood High School varsity football Giants last week, 55-0. Novato High School takes on the San Rafael Bulldogs this Saturday.

Terra Linda

The 1-3 Terra Linda Trojans lost a varsity football contest  57-0 to the Tam High School Red Tailed Hawks of Mill Valley last week. The Trojans will travel to Santa Rosa next week.

Redwood

The Redwood Giants varsity football team rolled to an easy defeat of the Novato High School Hornets, 55-0. The 3-1 Giants will host the 2-1 Tam High School Red Tailed Hawks on Saturday (Oct. 2).

Branson

Branson rolls to another lopsided win last week. Ho-hum. The undefeated Bulls defeated Tomales last Friday, 68-14. The Bulls are 4-0 with. No game this year has been close in score.

Tamalpais

Mill Valley’s Tamalpais High School rolled over the Terra Linda Trojans last week, 57-0. Tam hosts Redwood High School this Saturday (Oct. 2).

The picture featured is of Archie Williams player Zach Castrejon rather than Luke Fernandez as indicated in the caption.

Correction in photo above. There is no Luke Fernandez on Archie Williams High School football team. The players name from Archie Williams High School #11 is Zachary Castrejon.
