Novato redistricting

October 1, 2021 by Marin Leave a Comment

Novato Advance/Marinscope

After converting from electing City Council members at large to electing them by districts, the city will now go through a redistricting exercise using new census numbers. It could result in changes with some voters moving into new districts.

The city is going through that process now and will hold at least four public hearings. The Council meeting on Oct. 26 will feature a discussion on the topic and the city has asked interested residents to tune in and participate.

According to the most recent census, the Novato district populations are: District 1: 11,040; District 2: 10,612; District 3: 11,469; District 4: 10,070 and District 5: 10,034.

These lines could be redrawn to make them as equal as possible.
