This week, Novato Police officers responded to a house fire on San Felipe Way. The residence was almost completely engulfed in flames with the fire spreading to large trees in the backyard. Officers began evacuating the next door neighbors, carrying one elderly man from his home to safety.
As Novato Fire District personnel arrived and began to fight the fire, officers heard a resident in the backyard calling for help. Officers broke down a side yard fence, freeing the resident and his dog, and moved them to safety. Fire resources continued to arrive and quickly prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring houses.
In the aftermath, Novato Police Department thanked the community for their generous outpouring of support for the residents effected by the fire and for our first responders.
On social media, first responders received many kudos, such as these.
“Thank you for your amazing response,” said a writer by the name of Ursala.
“We are all so fi=ortunate to have such awesome firemen and first responders in Novato,” wrote Tory Ann.
“Absofreakinglutely amazing work,” said Meredith.
I live across the street and was at work when my wife FaceTime me. By the time I drove back, the firemen were mopping up. The next day I looked at the two surrounding houses, and there was no damage? Wha?

Residents were saved and all neighbors stood up and helped them intheir time of need and in their own generosity.
