Marin 911: A Tent City serenade

Sausalito

Oct. 7 – 13, 2021

Tent City Serenade: A woman in Sausalito homeless Tent City called police to report a man she does not know standing outside her tent singing about how much he loves her. The mystery singer has been doing it for days and the woman would like it to stop. 

Don’t Fit In: A Sausalito citizen called police about some guys in a silver BMW hanging about on Lincoln Drive. He told police “lots of weird stuff happening. They do not fit in.” Police checked it out and determined that “not fitting in” was still not a crime in California.

Lost Key: The leader of the pack lost his motorcycle key between the parking lot at the cruising club. It’s small, chrome, “Italian with an odd shape.” If you find it, call the police.

Disoriented: A 50-ish man with a baseball cap was seen looking disoriented on Platt Avenue. He would look into people’s driveways and talk to himself. Sometimes he’d wave his arms and act strangely. Police caught up to the man and gave him the once over. He was Code 4, which in cop talk means “everything is under control or the scene is safe.”

Stolen Car: Police recovered a silver Honda CRV  in a parking lot at a local grocery store. It was reported stolen.

Homeless: A homeless woman was camped out in a business parking lot. She continually moves her stuff from the homeless tent city to the parking lot. 

Cookies: A citizen bought a batch of halloween cookies for Sausalito’s finest from a Tiburon bakery. 

Smash & Grab: A silver sedan was broken into on Oct. 7 on Bridgeway. A suitcase was taken.

Agitated: A man reported that his dog on a leash almost got run over on a walk. He got into an argument with the man and now the man is following him in a car yelling “I’m going to beat your ass.”

Tent City: A day in the life of a homeless person in Sausalito’s Tent City. A skinny, bald buy keeps running around a woman’s tent and then squirts water from a hose into the living area. Police responded. 

Mill Valley

Oct. 7 – 13, 2020

Unauthorized Relief:A 50-ish man urinated in the park on Throckmorton. A citizen captured an image of the deed. Police looking for the unauthorized urinator. 

Blocking Hydrant: A white truck on Sunrise Avenue blocked the fire hydrant on Oct. 7. Driver located and told to move it.

Mystery Smoke: An observant passerby reported smoke on top of a motel on Redwood Highway. Police rolled to check it out. No smoke. Mystery. 

Dopers: Two teens were smoking pot on Camino Alto. Police admonished them for being high in public.

Bad Boyfriend: A girl was crying on the curb next to a store on Hamilton Drive. She said her boyfriend left her. She fell asleep and just woke up with no way to get home to Sonoma. Police working on getting her home.

Tesla Goofs: Drivers in two white Teslas were reported doing donuts in a parking lot on Camino Alto. 

What’s For Dinner: The daughter in a household on Buena Vista Drive took the car to go get dinner and hasn’t been seen in a while. Police called. Then the daughter came back. No word in cop log on what’s for dinner.

Burglary: A home on Kipling Drive was broken into on Oct. 10. The sliding glass dor was the entry point.

Catch & Release: Four people facing criminal charges in San Francisco — but free as birds — were detained and cited in Mill Valley.

Noise: A high pitched electrical noise bothered people on Millay Place. Police unable to locate the source of the nose. 

Hot Dog: A greyhound dog was inside a hot Mini Cooper. Concerned citizen call police. Car left with the dog before the Humane Society arrived.

Central Marin

Sept. 29 – Oct. 5, 2021

Summary: During this one-week time period, we had 567 calls for service. This included 7 calls related to hit and run accidents, 1 minor injury accident, 0 major injury accidents and 3 property damage only accidents. There was 1 residential burglary, 2 commercial burglaries and 0 auto burglary. There were 4 calls related to DUI and 1 DUI arrest.

Theft: A resident on Larkspur Plaza Drive in Larkspur reported the theft of a catalytic converter from his vehicle. An Officer took a report.

Accident: A caller reported an accident on Bon Air Road in Larkspur. A Greenbrae resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and hit and run. He was transported and booked into Marin County Jail.

Tear Gas: A caller reported a suspicious subject on Redwood Highway in Corte Madera. A San Francisco resident was arrested for felon in possession of tear gas, displaying false registration and possession of burglary tools. She was cited and released.

Fight: A caller reported a physical fight on Larkspur Landing Circle in Larkspur. A San Rafael resident was arrested for battery. He was cited and released.

Suspicious: A caller reported a suspicious subject on Larkspur Landing Circle in Larkspur. A Tiburon resident was arrested for possession of nitrous oxide. She was cited and released.

Warrant: An Officer advised he was out with a subject on Madera Boulevard in Corte Madera. A man, with no permanent address, was arrested on a $1,000 warrant held by Marin County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported and booked into Marin County Jail.

Druggie: A caller reported an unwanted subject on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in San Anselmo. A San Rafael resident was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation. He was cited and released.

San Rafael

Walk To School: The San Rafael Police encouraged parents and students to join school-goers and make the trek to class on foot Wednesday, Oct 6. “Walk to School Day” is celebrated annually to highlight the benefits of exercise and practice pedestrian and road safety with classmates, families, and caregivers.
