Oct. 14 – 21, 2021
Leaf Blower: A dreaded leaf blower was being used on Throckmorton, which is strictly forbidden in Mill Valley. Police rolled, but the leaf blower escaped.
Leaf Blower II: A citizen called police about a gas powered leaf blower on Walnut Avenue. It turned out to be a lawn mower. A leaf blower was presient but it was an electric leaf blower, which is legal.
Car Theft: A car was broken into on Oct. 14 on Lovell Avenue. Unknown how thief gained entry. Took jewelry and prescription meds.
Confused & Old: An elderly man walked through school campus and asked directions. He seemed confused. Police were called to help.
Sticky Substance: A person on Nelson Avenue received a package. When opened it contained a “weird gelatin substance” on a bag of potato chips that was in the box.
Car Running: A citizen called police to report a car parked on Sycamore Avenue was running — and had been running for three hours. Police found the owner. He said it is new and he didn’t realize he left it while quietly running. (The car was quietly running. Not the driver.)
Porch Pirate: A package containing outdoor furniture was taken from the porch of a Shelter Bay Avenue address.
Squirrely: A man returned to his car from a local bank and discovered some personal documents were missing from his car. He suspected a “squirrely” looking man with red hair who had left the bank before him. Police rolled. Investigated by reviewing parking lot camera video. No one touched his car while he was in the bank. He lost those documents somewhere else.
Loud Kids: A group of kids were reported being loud on Blithedale Avenue. Police were called. When an officer rolled up, the kids scattered into the wind.
Party on Oakdale: A citizen called the cops saying someone down the hill on Oakdale was playing loud music. Police checked. There was no one house playing music. There were several. Party time on Oakdale. Police notified them all. Next time, invite the people up the hlll.
Fireworks: Kids were on the school roof off of Blithedale lighting off fireworks. Police caught them and called their parents.
Homeless: A man slept on the sidewalk on Camino Alto. Police made contact to make sure he was well.
Mean Girl: The parent of a teen girl called police about another girl beating up her daughter.
Yeller: It sounded like three guys down by the creek having an argument, but it may have just been one guy with three personalities. Police made contact with the man and advised him to get out of the rain and call if he needed help. One of them said he would.

Oct. 13 – 20, 2021
Smash-n-Grab: The window of a car parked at the Bobcat Trail Head was broken and a purse taken.
Smash-n-Grab: The window of a black pick-up parked on Bridgeway was smashed on Oct. 18 and a backpack with a computer was stolen.
Smash-n-Grab: The back window of a rental car was smashed on Spinnaker Drive and contents removed from the car.
Suitcase: A suitcase with clothes strewn about was found behind the bushes at a parking lot on Bridgeway.
Barker: A resident new to the area called the cops because of a neighbor dog barking. He said he “just wants them to know their dog keeps barking.” Police left a note on the door of the bad dog’s home No one was home. Probably because of the barking.
Burglary: Someone broke into the garage of a home on Olima Street on Oct. 15 and took a foldable bike.
Break-In: A woman in a blue fluffy jacket was seen sneaking into a storage facility on Marinship Way and trying to break into an RV. Gone when the police arrived.
Living In The Car: Someone on Marinship Way is living out of a car. When talked to, the car-sleeper is very aggressive. The person also sleeps in Tent City sometimes. Caller asked for police help in the long-parked car matter.
Worried: A party was held on South Street and involved a fire pit. A worried neighbor called the cops because she was concerned the kids would go to bed and not properly put out the fire.
Novato Police
Stabbing: On Sept.19, 11:34 p.m., Novato Police officers responded to a local hospital on the report of a patient who arrived at the emergency room with numerous stab wounds. The medical staff related that the victim had been stabbed in the 1300 block of Leafwood Drive in Novato. Patrol officers responded to Leafwood Drive, where they spoke with witnesses and located evidence of a stabbing. The initial investigation revealed four persons acted together to injure the victim over a personal dispute. One suspect restrained the victim’s acquaintance and brandished a firearm while two others accosted the second victim. The second victim was stabbed repeatedly about their arms and abdomen. Officers determined there was no threat to the public. To not jeopardize the capture of the outstanding suspects or collection of evidence during the on-going investigation, there was no immediate release of information regarding this incident.
Novato Police investigators quickly identified four suspects who were involved in the attack. Investigators obtained arrest warrants for 18 year-old San Rafael resident, Vanessa Venegas-Palma, 18 year-old San Rafael resident, Jeffrey Garcia, 18 year-old Sacramento resident Charlie Mazariegos, and 18 year-old San Rafael resident, Devin Rodas. Search warrants related to this investigation were served at Mazariegos’ residence in Sacramento and on one vehicle.
On Sept. 21, Vanessa Venegas-Palma and Jeffrey Garcia were arrested with the assistance of the San Rafael Police Department in San Rafael, CA.
On Sept. 29, the Santa Rosa Police Department apprehended Charlie Mazariegos, during an unrelated traffic stop in their city.
On Oct. 13, 2021, Devin Rodas, was contacted by the San Rafael Police Department and arrested.
