Sausalito City Manager end-of-year message

December 27, 2021 by Marin Leave a Comment

Dear Sausalito community,

My public service continues with the City Council appointing me as Sausalito’s City Manager this past June. With six months behind me and 2022 around the corner, I want to take a moment to convey my appreciation to Sausalito residents for the way they truly care about this special place.

For a small community, Sausalito has a level of civic engagement that is truly impressive, as are the abilities and talents that community members bring to making our town a better place. The Herculean effort of Monica Finnegan and the Economic Development Advisory Committee to organize Holiday by the Bay events for the benefit of our struggling local businesses is an outstanding recent example.

The Sausalito community can take comfort knowing that you have a talented and dedicated City staff. I can’t say enough about their hard work and resilience during a year of unprecedented challenges.

Your City Council and I will be focused on the City’s finances and infrastructure during 2022. A solid financial footing will enable us to make needed upgrades to streets, sidewalks, stairs, and drainage systems while we work to create sustainable services that enhance Sausalito. We look forward to working with partners to strengthen our connection to Marin City, further address housing and mobility needs, ramp up disaster preparedness, and become more resilient in the face of climate change.

   — City Manager Chris Zapata
