Police make drug bust in Marin — River Sky Matta arrested

March 26, 2022 by Marin 2 Comments

Above are some of the items police say they confiscated in a Marin drug bust this month.

During the months of February and March the Marin County Specialized Investigative Unit conducted an investigation into River Sky Matta, a suspected narcotic dealer.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office social media post said: “During the investigation, an undercover detective developed a business relationship with Matta who, during the course of the investigation, sold approximately two ounces of cocaine in unincorporated Mill Valley and San Rafael to the undercover detective.

“:As a result of these narcotic transactions, a search warrant was issued by the Marin County Superior Court authorizing the search of Matta, his residence, and his vehicle.

“During the service of the search warrant, Matta was found with approximately 45 grams of suspected cocaine and a notable quantity of U.S. currency in his vehicle. Additionally, multiple cellular phones were located inside Matta’s vehicle, which later revealed a large client base around the county of Marin.

In conducting a search of Matta’s residence, detectives located a loaded Glock  firearm and a device that can be used in combination with the pistol to manufacture an illegal assault weapon. Detectives also located a substantial amount of U.S. currency, additional cocaine, a scale, and narcotic packaging materials.

“Matta was ultimately arrested, interviewed, and booked at the Marin County Jail for the sale and transportation of cocaine, possession of an illegal assault weapon, and manufacturing of an illegal assault weapon.”

I certainly wouldn’t call this a large drug bust… this is a small time dealer, and when you consider the location (one of the richest counties in the country) one could argue the amount of drugs found was far from substantial. At most this bust is a minor inconvenience for those involved, and I would argue the cops who made the bust were hoping for a lot more than what they found…

Seriously. This is news? Some kid selling 2oz cocaine in Mill Valley? There are over 35oz in one kilo. Marin County is a low crime area that likes its cocaine. This is just part of the landscape. If you ask me, the fact that this is seen as newsworthy says a lot.
