A letter of thanks on the 100th anniversary of the Novato Advance newspaper

July 25, 2022 by Marin Leave a Comment

100 Years of Service

Dear readers,

The Novato Advance is the largest – and oldest – newspaper in the Marinscope group of newspapers, providing local newspaper service in Marin County from Sausalito from Novato.

Today we at Marinscope are proud (and humbled, to be perfectly honest) to celebrate the Advance’s 100th birthday.

Throughout that time, a handful of owners, scores of editors, reporters and photographers strived to make the Advance the only newspaper in the world that gives a damn about Novato.

We can’t thank the people of Novato enough for their support over the years. Many of our readers today have been subscribers for decades. Some delivered the Novato Advance back in the day when newspapers still maintained a fleet of boys and girls to deliver the news of the week. A special tip of the hat to you all. Many thanks.

The newspaper business has changed greatly in the new century. But the need remains for local journalism and a local newspaper that marks the times of the people in the community.

You can support the Novato Advance and Marinscope’s other community newspapers by reading, subscribing and advertising.

The Advance is fully adjudicated to handle legal advertising in Marin County, as are the Advance’s sister newspapers – the San Rafael News Pointer, the Mill Valley Herald, the Ross Valley Reporter, the Twin Cities Times and the Sausalito Marin Scope. Our newspapers – publish every Wednesday. We are priced well below the regional newspapers. There is no reason to pay exorbitant “big city” newspaper prices. Our legal service saves people money, of course. But we also save local governments potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars per year – money that can be better spent on community services. To check out our prices, contact Carol Schivo via email at legals@marinscope.com.

The Advance and Marinscope newspapers work hard to provide effective advertising opportunities at a rate far below others. To check how much more bang for your buck you can get by shopping local, please contact Diane Stone via email at dstone@marinscope.com.

We believe that good communities deserve a good community newspaper. So, today we at Marinscope are proud to lift up the Novato Advance on its 100th birthday. Thank you to everyone who has helped achieve this milestone.
