In the depth of the pandemic shutdown – 2019 and 2021 — San Francisco lost more than half its jobs in the food service. The startling numbers were released last week by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The data showed that in 2019 the city – known for its world class restaurant industry – reported 31,501 food service workers. In 2021, the jobs dropped to 14,201 — a 55% free fall.
