Marin 911: Another fentanyl bust takes pounds off the streets

Four pounds of fentanyl, above, were seized by the Marin Sheriff’s Department from two people in Richmond who were allegedly selling drugs in Marin County.

Fentanyl Bust: Over the last several months, our Specialized Investigative Unit (SIU) Detectives developed information that led them to believe a subject by the name of Hector Rodriguez was selling narcotics in the County of Marin. An undercover SIU Detective contacted Rodriguez and arranged to purchase methamphetamine from him. During the ensuing investigation, Rodriguez agreed to and sold more than ½ pound of methamphetamine to the undercover SIU Detective. The investigation came to an end on when detectives arrested him and Brenis Maribel Diaz Maldonado in the city of Richmond. They were found to be in possession of the following narcotics in their residence when they were arrested: 2 kilos (over 4lbs) of suspected fentanyl in bulk and also packaged for sales, About $15,000 in U.S. currency, and additional packaging materials. When both were contacted and arrested, they were accompanied by their 10 month old daughter. The daughter was turned over to a relative while Rodriguez and Maldonado were booked into the Marin County Jail on the narcotics charges, conspiracy and child endangerment charges.

An SIU Detective obtained a $500,000 bail enhancement on Rodriguez and a $250,000 bail enhancement on Maldonado. The Specialized Investigative Unit (SIU) takes a proactive approach to investigate narcotics related criminal activity within the County of Marin.
