Don’t smoke on Mt. Tam; fines are doubled

December 30, 2022 by Marin 2 Comments

Marinscope

The Marin Municipal Water District has upped the fines for fire-related  reckless behavior such as smoking on Mount Tamalpais watershed.  Anyone who decides to light up a cigarette, fire off a firecracker or light a campfire in the watershed will now face a fine of up to $1,200.

The crackdown comes after a close call last summer that almost ignited what could have been a massive wildfire in Marin.

Sounds like another stupid fine / fee . Why not put some trash cans on Mt Tam . We couldn’t find any !? Seems kinda weird that none exist .

Smoking is a plague on society, creating useless eaters that waste public time and resources. A small fine will not deter these degenerates. Penalties must increase.
