Marin 911: Dark and stormy duty during rainstorms

First responders throughout Marin were kept busy day and night during the recent storm that pounded the Bay Area. Above is the 400 block of Cascade in Mill Valley. Similar scenes, along with flooding, were reported. 

MILL VALLEY

Lines Down: Weather produced busy shifts on dark and stormy days and nights for Mill Valley’s finest. On Jan. 5, police helped the fire department deal with felled trees that came to rest on power lines on Bolsa Avenue.

Downed Lines: Police helped the FD deal with a “giant branch” that came to rest on the power lines.

Downed Lines: Police helped the FD deal with a “giant branch” that came to rest on the power lines at Ethel Avenue on Jan. 5.

Downed Lines: Police helped the FD deal with a downed line next to a puddle on Lovell Avenue on Jan. 5.

Downed Lines: Police assisted the FD deal with a downed line entangled in trees on Jan. 5 at Blithedale Avenue and Hillside Avenue.

Downed lines: On Jan. 5 on Lee Avenue a large branch fill on power lines and hoovered over a parked car. Police helped FD deal with it.

Shoplifters: Two people in a red Honda sedan with handicapped plates entered a store on Camino Alto and exited the store with two bags of goods without paying. The criminals fled the scene. Store owner and police reviewing video footage.

Disconnect: A woman with a “slight British accent” called police saying that she was unable to reach her sister-in-law in Mill Valley. The MV woman is “anti-social” but always answers the phone, police were told. MV’s finest did a welfare check and found the woman’s phone was disconnected due to phone issues. Matter resolved.

Elder Abuse: Police started an investigation into a complaint of elder abuse.

Butt Touched: Mill Valley’s finest received a complaint from a woman who said a man grabbed her “bottom” in Guam in 2016. Police told her to report the incident to the Guam police.

Homeless: A homeless woman with all her possessions blocked the front door of a business on Miller Avenue. Woman may have mental issues. Police told her to move along.

Downed Trees: Several large branches fell into the creek on Jan. 6 at Cascade Drive. Branches removed.

Dumped: Two “giant recliners” were dumped along the road at Overhill Road and Camino Alto. A citizen saw a guy in a gray truck pull out from the site quickly. His body language indicated he was the culprit, but the eye-witness was unable to get more identifying information.

Tenters: Three tents popped up on Jan. 7 on Miller Avenue. No blockage seen, so police let the encampment be. 

Kids: A resident on Nelson Avenue reported a group of kids “tasing” each other. Police rolled to the scene and found a bunch of kids playing hide-and-seek. No taser found.

SAUSALITO

Homeless: Police assisted a homeless person find shelter on Jan. 9.
