Marin Historian Scott Fletcher will share “Familiar Tales and Untold Stories” about Novato and Marin County at the Quarterly Membership Meeting of the Novato Historical Guild on Saturday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to noon Novato City Hall.
Scott’s talk is based on his book “Moments in Marin History: Familiar Tales and Untold Stories” (2022). He will cover the history of Black Point Inn, which infamously burned down in 1976, and World War I Ace Lt. Lloyd Hamilton, for whom Hamilton Air Field was named.
“Moments in Marin History” is a collection of photographs and articles Scott wrote over the years for the Marin Independent Journal. The photographs were carefully selected from the Marin History Museum’s vast collection.
Scott is a historian and educator who has lived and worked in Marin since 1985. A graduate of U.C. Berkeley, he holds advanced degrees from San Francisco and San Jose State universities. He has volunteered for the Marin History Museum since 2011, working as a cataloger for the Louise Arner Boyd Collection. Scott was both a history teacher and school librarian in Marin for many years and was the library director at San Domenico School from 2005-2018.
