On Sunday, March 12, the Marin County-based Ferdowsi School celebrated its 41st anniversary, in conjunction with the Persian New Year (Norouz) at the Corte Madera Community Center. This event has been a long standing tradition and is always the first official Norouz event celebrated in Marin County. Ferdowsi Schools offer classes on the Iranian language (Farsi) and culture for all ages. Founder and Instructor of the Marin School, Mrs. Esmaili, a former attorney, has focused her efforts on teaching young students within the greater Marin Community for over 40 years. A large part of Iranian culture is expressed in song and especially dance.
