Fair housing advocates characterized the rejection as the worst so far of all Marin jurisdictions.

school chief

LaReesha Huffman, 46, of Oakland has been named the new superintendent of the Sausalito Marin City School District. She will start July 1 at an annual salary of $225,000.

She called her departure “bittersweet.”

Teachers get

15% pay hike

The San Rafael City Schools district will give elementary and middle school teachers a 15% pay raise over two years. The agreement was reached this month and announced in a letter to parents.

The agreement is subject to a ratification vote by the teacher’s union.

‘Anchor-outs’

dwindling

So-called “anchor-outs” squatting in boats in Richardson Bay have dwindled in numbers under a state mandate to enforce stays to 72 hours.

Gov. Gavin Newsom has charged the Richardson Bay Regional Agency to get “anchor-outs” from permanently living in the bay to protect environmentally sensitive waters. In 2019, there were an estimated 200 anchor-outs skirting rules against living in the bay. Today there are about 60. The deadline for ending anchor-outs is October 2026.

Marin County is working with the RBRA to provide land accommodations for the anchor-outs.
