Carl ‘Mike’ Nielsen

Carl “Mike” Nielsen, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Nielsen; his three children, Jennifer (Tom) Blanchfield, Marjie (Matt) DeLaMontanya, Mike (Judy) Nielsen and Sandra Nielsen, the mother of his children. Mike was also a proud Grandfather to seven grandchildren.
After graduating from The University of Buffalo, he took his first dream job in The Big Apple and eventually moved out west to plant his family roots in Novato, Ca.
Mike launched Tropicana Pools serving Sonoma County in the early 1970s, and his son Mike continues to run Tropicana Pools 50 years later.
Mike also proudly owned three restaurants in Novato spanning over 25 years: Pickerings Cookery & Saloon, TJ Corcoran’s Parlor Car and TJs on The Boulevard all featuring an Irish pub atmosphere with great food, live music and dancing. You could often find Mike singing with the band belting out Frank Sinatra tunes.
In retirement, Mike and his wife Jan loved boating, visiting Puerta Vallarta, as well traveling and cruising to many places around the world.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mike on Saturday, June 10, at Perry’s Novato (225 Alameda del Prado) from 3-6pm. The family cordially extends an invitation to join them to share stories and toast to Mike’s legacy. Hosted open bar and hors d’oeuvres. For questions contact 707-481-2863.
