Marin 911: Sausalito’s finest look for man who kicked dog in the head for no reason

SAUSALITO

Dog Kicker: A woman reported that a man kicked her dog in the head for no reason. The dog hater wore a big jacket and sweatpants. Police canvassed the area but could not locate the kicker. 

Epissode: A woman on Bridgeway was reported so drunk she pissed herself. Police talked to the woman. Despite the urination episode, she said she could take care of herself and would call someone to pick her up. 

Porch Pirate: On May 22, a citizen on Sausalito Boulevard reported to police that packages were stolen from the porch. Video may help identify.

Mental: A man and his wife were in the UPS store on Bridgeway when a person, who appeared to be having a mental episode, began yelling and screaming. He asked the couple for a ride. They said “no” and then followed the couple to their car and spit on their car. 

Loud: Police were called to Gordon Street because of a loud party. Police listened and determined it was loud, but not too loud. 

Lost Bag: A woman told police that she left a bag in an Uber car that contained $500 and other items. Police notified Uber. The driver had the bag and is returning it to the patron.

Bum: A homeless man was pestering patrons in downtown Sausalito, asking for marijuana, etc. Police found him at the bus stop and talked to him about his bad behavior. 

Parking: A resident on Bulkley Avenue called the cops because a Prius was parked in front of his house for three days. Police contacted the owner of the Prius. She was visiting a friend who lived down the street, which is fine even in parking-space limited Sausalito.

Parking II: A white VW “Beetle” apparently rolled out of its parking spot on Coloma Street and into the middle of the street. Police could not reach the owner, so officers pushed it to the curb and marked the tires. 

SAN RAFAEL

Arrest: San Rafael Police detectives arrested a hospice nurse on suspicion of raping a resident at an assisted living facility. The nurse was identified as Michael A. Shipe, 65, of Novato. He was arrested on May 10. 

Dog Gone: Police were called out to a fist fight in Downtown San Rafael on Lincoln Avenue. During the scuffle, a little dog ran away and went missing. After the issue between the two humans was resolved, officers went looking for the dog and found the pooch scared, but  unharmed.

Vandalism: San Rafael Police arrested Kevin Cook, a 37-year-old San Rafael resident, after he caused over $5,000 in damage to a San Rafael Fire Station and later threw a can of beer at a moving police car.  Cook was booked into the Marin County Jail on felony and misdemeanor charges. 

Speeders: Motor Officers came across two speeding motorcycles doing over 100 MPH on the US-101 freeway in San Rafael. One motorcycle was clocked at 123 MPH and the other at 106 MPH. Ironically, the motor officers were participating in a National Motorcycle Safety Month when they caught the speedsters at those high speeds. The penalty for the tickets carries a possible $800 fine and 2 bad-driver points on the DMV driving record.

Armed Robbery: On April 29 police responded to shots fired around Hoag and Mill Streets.

Officers arrived and a victim, who had been shot in the foot when four assailants tried to rob him. The assailants fled in a newer model Toyota Rav4. Police are asking for help n identifying the suspects. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.

FAIRFAX

Handicapped: On May 12 a citizen reported someone parking in a handicapped spot without a placard visible. One on the scene, police, however, could see the placard inside the car and determined it was not a violation. 

Drunk: A belligerent drunk was reported outside a local bar. Service provided.

Signs: Signs were posted illegally on public property on Park Road. Police notified the owner of the signs and the signs were taken down.

Touching: A parent reported to police that kids at White Hill Middle school were touching her son inappropriately. The parent has reported it to the school but wanted advice from the cops. Service provided.

Graffiti: The library reported more graffiti on the grounds. Report taken.

Breakdown: A man sat on benches on Bolinas Road talking to himself. Passers by thought he was having a mental episode of some sort. Service provided. 

Fawn: Citizens saw a fawn by itself on Park Road and thought it needed help. It is common for momma deer to leave a baby alone while it seeks food. 

Sleeper: The Department of Public Works notified police that a homeless man was inside the bathroom at Peri Park sleeping with all his worldly possessions. Service provided. 

MILL VALLEY

FAKE ID: A shopkeeper on Blithedale Avenue asked police for help with kids coming in using realistic fake IDs to attempt to purchase booze. Police gave training. 

Roller: On May 26, a citizen reported a red car parked on Blithedale with the doors open and a person next to it rolling around on the ground. Police checked out the call only to find a worker on lunch break doing yoga and mobility exercises. 

Theft: A resident on Underhill Road reported an iPad stolen from her house. Unsure how or when people got into her house. The iPad is tracking to a location in San Rafael. 

Egged: A house on Ryan Avenue and two on Nelson were egged on May 30. Police report filed. 

Break Up: Police responded to a domestic dispute between a man and woman on Seaver Drive on May 23. The woman wants to break up and for the man to leave. Police told the couple to separate and the man agreed to drive away once he was sober enough to drive. The woman did not want the man arrested.

Shoplifting: A woman shoplifted two full bags of groceries from the market on Corte Madera Avenue. The store wants to prosecute if police find her. The groceries were valued at about $1,500. The store has pictures of the shoplifter. 

Screamer: Neighbors called police about a woman who has made it a habit to scream at the top of her lungs “like a horror movie” and pound on her porch. The wailing and thumping often lasts into the wee hours of the morning. Police knocked on the woman’s door. She stopped the screaming when she heard the police knock. She refused to open the door. Possible mental issues. Neighbors will seek resolution via the homeowner’s association.
