Properly Subversive/Sherman R. Frederick
Nobody asked me but how can we let the Richmond Bridge stay closed to traffic for 17 hours to accommodate some guy in a mental crisis?
What would we do if this were a bear or a coyote with puppies in tow? We’d tranq it, or net it, and move the critters to safety.
I’m halfway joking, of course, because in the Bay Area the homeless and the mentally ill here are like cows in India.
All I’m sayin’ is there’s got to be a better way.
Postscript: Do you know how many mentally ill people there are in the Bay Area who just read that story and now want their 17 hours of fame? This won’t be the last time we see this.

We close the bridge because a life was in the balance! A human was in trouble and a lot of people came to his aid!
Could have been your brother or your son!
Sorry for the inconvenience!
The point is not that we should be careless. But 17 hours is outrageous. Far from an inconvenience. Net him and take him away.
Dude climbed down from the second deck and ran around on the lower deck trying to get hit. How would YOU like to be the guy who hits him? Nightmares as a guy targets you to hit him and see him bounce off your car or through your windshieled. He then climbed into a restriced area beneath the lower deck where he could have at a momebta notice reappeared on the lower challenging another car to hit him.
I know it was a big PITA for the drivers but no one has to live with knowing they killed a guy who just likely needes a med adjustment.
They ain’t crazy they know exactly what it here doing. Attention and disruption of regular folks trying to make ends meet by WORKING
