NOVATO
Garage Door: Early in the morning of Oct. 10, Novato Police Officers responded to a call for service regarding an attempted burglary of a car near Garner Drive. The officers began a check of the area for the individuals involved, when they noticed an open garage of a residence nearby, which turned out to be unrelated. As NPD officers continued to investigate the initial call, an NPD Corporal stayed behind to contact the homeowner and successfully closed the garage door, securing the residence for the evening.
FAIRFAX
Showering: A woman showered in the creek along Peri Park on Oct. 1. Police responded and informed the homeless woman of outside resources for such activities. Service provided.
Collapse: A carport collapsed on a car on Tamalpais Road on Oct. 1. A person was in the car. Service provided.
Suspicious: The same husky, balding man who interacted with kids at White Hill Middle School in September was seen again on Oct. 2 hanging around near the school. Police dispatched to look for the man, but he was gone.
Donkey: A Marin Transit Driver on Oct. 3 reported a “donkey” in the road on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Police responded. Found no donkey, but surmised it was a deer.
Postal: A citizen reported a homeless person in the Fairfax Post Office making a lot of noise that indicated he was up to no good. Service provided.
MARIN SHERIFF
Prank: Deputies responded to a van with the sign on the back that read: “Don’t Open! Dead Inside.” It was a Halloween prank. Service provided.
Homeless Encampment: Deputies patrolled Pacheco Creek Drive in Novato to find a “decent size encampment” still active in the area. 72-hour signs to vacate were posted.
Car Living: Deputies noted a truck and van parked on Harbor Drive in Novato. Service provided.
Afraid: A woman in Strawberry called the police from inside her car. She was afraid to get out because there were teens in the area peeing on a wall. Pee kids were gone when police arrived.
Homeless: A homeless person started to set up camp in a Santa Venetia carport of a home of a man who recently died. Service provided.
MILL VALLEY
Homeless: A man camped out near Blithedale Avenue periodically checking for unlocked cars in the parking lot. He hid in the bushes then walked towards the school. Service provided.
Photos: A lawyer who said he was working on a big case called the police because someone shot pictures through his window, possibly spying on his work. Service provided.
Sleeper: A man slept in his station wagon parked on Miller Avenue. Police made contact. Help declined.
Plugged In: An RV was reported parked near the football field and plugging into the school’s electrical system. Police responded. It turned out to be a school employee and will talk with the administration about doing so.
Dogs & Cats: A citizen on Tamalpais Commons Lane called police about her neighbor’s dogs chasing her cats. Service provided.
Husky Reunited: A tan and white Husky jumped out of a car on Throckmorton Avenue and ran free. Police helped reunite the Husky with the owner. Service provided.
Usual: A homeless man was at the Post Office screaming at people. Police responded and talked to him. Usual behavior for this one-bubble-off-center individual. No crime.
Stumbling: A 50-ish man stumbled down Lomita and fell into a bush. May need help. Service provided.
SAUSALITO
Bathroom: A man holed up in the women’s restroom on Lintho Street. It was a local vagabond known to police. Service provided.
Screamer: A homeless person in her 40s screamed at cars on Turney Street on Oct. 4 and then started pulling out plants from the ground. The woman was known to police, who talked to her about changing her behavior.
Peeper: A drunk man peered through a restaurant window to watch a girl using the bathroom on Caledonia Street on Oct. 7. The mother of the girl called the police. Police responded and talked to the man. The mother said she will come down to police headquarters and definitely, 100% press charges against the man.
SAN RAFAEL
Stolen Vehicle: Just before 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 10, SRPD officers responded to a report of a delivery van that had just been stolen from the 100 block of Third Street in San Rafael. The stolen vehicle was seen being driven away towards China Camp State Park. SRPD broadcast a “Be On the Lookout” to our Marin Law Enforcement partners. A Marin Sheriff’s Deputy saw the vehicle pass by on North San Pedro coming from China Camp State Park. As the deputy turned around, the stolen delivery van fled and was located moments later on San Pablo Avenue unoccupied. An area search for the suspect began and a person of interest was located. SRPD officers are continuing with the investigation. The delivery van was returned to the owner.
Prowling: Early Sunday morning, Oct. 8, an alert resident observed a vehicle driving in the neighborhood with no headlights on. The resident also saw the occupants stop and prowl around the area. An SRPD officer who was nearby, located the suspicious vehicle and stopped it. Officers found that the driver was unlicensed. Officers located burglary tools and property that appeared to have been stolen. The items were seized and the investigating officers will work to determine where the property was taken from. The driver was arrested and released with a citation for possession of burglary tools and driving while unlicensed. The vehicle was also impounded.
