One person was found dead in a Novato house that went up in flames the evening of Thursday, Nov. 9. Two people escaped from the fire. The name of the person killed was identified as Blake Andrew Collins, 39, of Novato.

Novato Police were called to what was described as a “large residential structure fire” on Laurie Court. The home was fully engulfed when first responders arrived on scene. Police helped evacuate the home and protect other homes in the area but, “tragically, a person was found deceased inside the residence.”

Officials said the “investigation is active and ongoing to determine the origin and cause of the fire. Streets in the area were closed for several hours in the aftermath of the fire.
