Marin 911: Theft, porn scam and a homeless grouch

Southern Marin Sheriff deputies conducted a vehicle investigation on a car without any license plates at the Chevron gas station off of Tiburon Boulevard. After further investigation Methamphetamine, Cocaine and Fentanyl  were confiscated and three people in the car were taken to jail. 
This truck was stolen and ransacked from a San Rafael neighborhood. 

SAN RAFAEL

Theft: A vehicle owner in the Dominican neighborhood called SRPD to report his truck being stolen. Officers responded and found various tools strewn around the roadway.  The owner reported that the work truck was a retired fire department utility truck. Within 15 minutes, additional officers checked the surrounding area and located the vehicle, abandoned and still running, in the area of Jewel Avenue and Ridge Avenue.  The vehicle was found partially emptied of tools and property.  Officers also noticed that the ignition had been punched.  No suspects were located at the scene.  The vehicle was recovered and given back to the registered owner.

MILL VALLEY 

Porn Scam: A man reported to police that a person called and said he was from the federal government and working a porn case. Scammer got the citizen to transfer $249,000 from his bank, but the transfer was stopped when the scam was discovered. Service provided.

Crash: Officers late last year were sent with @southernmarinfire to the 500 block of Redwood Highway Frontage Road for a report of a traffic collision.  When our officers arrived, they found that the roadway was blocked, and two vehicles appeared to have been involved in the collision.  Both vehicles sustained major damage. Fortunately, the occupants of the vehicle’s were not seriously injured. Through their investigation, officers determined the driver of one of the vehicles drove into the oncoming lane of traffic.  The driver of the at fault vehicle was later determined to be under the influence of alcohol, and following further investigation, was arrested for felony DUI. 

Dog Vest: A man on Camino Alto told another dog walker, who was walking a Husky, that he should have a vest on his Husky. The Husky owner said “mind your own business” in such a specific, vulgar and aggressive way that the police were called. Service provided.

T-Shirt: A man solicited on Blithedale Avenue, wearing what the caller said was a “racist” t-shirt. Police responded to find the man having political/social discourse with others and not blocking the business. No crime. Service provided.

No Scam: A resident called police about being scammed over the phone. Upon further investigation, it was found out that she called her internet provider because her TV was not working and was subsequently transferred to a call center in India. She told police she didn’t trust the call center. Police advised her to set up a meeting the next day. Police service provided. Who knows when TV service was restored.

Welfare Check: A woman (who is also a psychologist) was accosted by a homeless man pushing a shopping cart. She called the police and pointed out the man sitting outside the store smoking a cigarette, saying he needed help. Service provided. 

Threat: A 10th grader said on social media that he was going to “rape everyone” at Tam high school. It was reported to police. Police and school providing service.

Guitar Man: A well known homeless man, who is seen around town carrying a guitar, was reported now carrying a pistol. Police responded and found it to be a lighter, not a pistol. Service provided

SAUSALITO

Grouch: A homeless man crouched in the corner on Caledonia Street, reportedly yelling at people at random. Police checked it out and determined the man was drunk, but not drunk enough to be taken to jail. The man promised to move along. Service provided.

Begging: Police were asked to stop a woman with her child from public begging on Harbor Drive. Police declined citing the First Amendment. 

Dropped Wallet:  A citizen dropped her wallet in the rocks at Bridgeway and Richardson Street. She couldn’t reach it. Neither could the responding cop. Fire Department called, but before arriving the citizen was finally able to find a way to get it. 

Damn TV: A TV was reported blaring for the last 10 hours at a place on Ross Road. Police responded and solved the complaint. Service provided.

Blocked In:  A delivery driver on Dec. 18 was unloading on Harbor Drive when a woman in a black Lexus parked, blocking him in. Woman refused to re-park because she said his was not in a loading zone. Police arrived and mediated the situation. Service provided.

Skunk Drunk: A man in gray sweatpants was so drunk on Bridgeway and Olive Street on Dec. 18, police had to arrest him for his safety and others.

MARIN SHERIFF

Bar Fight: Deputies responded to a bar fight in Forest Knolls in which a woman screamed at a man to delete a photo he just took of her. The woman did not know the man. He told the woman to get out of his face, along with a few choice words about her mental prowess and gender. Service provided.

Let Me In: A man – young and heavy set – came to the door of a house in Sleepy Hollow at 5:53 p.m., saying he was an Amazon driver and out of gas. No truck was seen. Police called.

Parked Car: A resident on Blackstone Drive in Marinwood reported an abandoned Honda Accord near the Mary Silveira school grounds. It appears to have been in an accident. Service provided.

Suspicious: A person who was a witness to a shooting in November reported a suspicious car parked in front of the house, worrying it might be a gang member out to intimidate the witness. Service provided.

Sewage: Deputies were called to a Housing Authority building in Strawberry. A plumbing issue was reported but the plumber did not respond. Sewage is now leaking down the hallway and into the bedroom and is leaking into the apartment below. Service provided.

Oh Dear: A deer was hit and remained in the middle of the road halfway between Muir Beach and Stinson Beach. Service provided. 

NOVATO

Honor: Novato Detective Rodriguez was awarded the Hector Cortes Community Service Award by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Marin at the Christmas “La Posada” Celebration for his service to the City of Novato. Detective Rodriguez started as a Police Intern at Novato Police and was previously a School Resource Officer for the Novato Unified School District.
