This is a press release from the SRPD:

SUSPECT WANTED FOR ASSAULTING JUVENILES:

On the evening of Tuesday, February 12, 2024, at around 5:00 pm, a group of juveniles were at the Northgate Mall when an adult male approached one of them, making inappropriate physical contact with her arm. Concerned for her safety, one of the juveniles hid while the others attempted to capture the suspect’s image using their phones. The male aggressor confronted the juvenile and forcibly knocked the phone from her hand, causing damage. The suspect then fled on foot into the Terra Linda area.

Terra Linda residents were advised to stay in their homes as police officers searched the neighborhoods with help from the Marin County Sheriff’s Department drone.

The juveniles provided detailed descriptions of the suspect, and through subsequent investigation, the San Rafael Police Department successfully identified Enoch Christian Cupples, a 33-year-old white male with no last known address. He was last seen wearing orange sunglasses, a black hooded sweatshirt, and khaki pants. Cupples is still outstanding and is known to frequent the downtown area of San Rafael.

Fortunately, none of the juveniles sustained injuries requiring medical attention, and they have been safely reunited with their families. The incident did not involve the use of any weapons.

The San Rafael Police Department assures the public that there is no immediate threat to safety arising from this incident. Nonetheless, residents are urged to stay vigilant and report any information that may assist in promptly resolving the case.

We take incidents involving harm to our community members very seriously and emphasize that our dedicated team is actively engaged in investigating this case and apprehending the suspect. Our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents is our priority.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
