Marin 911: Man points gun at cars in Fairfax, homeless dude barks at passersby, Lego theft in Marin City

Editor’s Note: There are public safety and crime issues right here in bucolic Marin County. These are just a few of the latest gleaned from cop logs by the journalists at Marin Local News.

FAIRFAX

Trapped: On Feb. 17 police helped an employee of a downtown book store get out after being trapped inside due to flooding. Police responded to numerous calls related to the flooding on Feb. 17.

Burning Sage: A man was reported burning a book in front of an Italian restaurant in downtown Fairfax. When police arrived, they found a man burning sage. They told him to stop it. 

Tree Down: A tree limb hung precariously above power lines on Forrest Avenue. Service provided. 

Door Open: A woman came out of her house in the morning on Laurel Drive to find her car door open and her car burglarized. Service provided.

Drunk: An overly served man was escorted out of a downtown bar and a taxi called for him. He pounded on the bar’s door to be let back in. Police arrived and the man left in the taxi called for him.

Gas Power: A person was reported using a gas powered leaf blower in the Deer Park Lane and Hillside. Service provided.

Pink Turban: A woman with a baby was at the bus stop. The woman appeared “out of it.” When confronted, the woman began rambling. She was wearing a pink turban and the baby was in a polka-dot blanket. There was concern for the welfare of the baby. Service provided. 

Power Out: The Police Department was out of power when a transformer malfunctioned in San Anselmo. 

Booked: A man was hunched over on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and looked like he was doing drugs. Police talked to the man and found him wanted. Booked into the Marin County Jail. 

Pointing Gun: A man was arrested Feb. 16 on Broadway for pointing a pistol and passing cars. 

MARIN COUNTY SHERIFF

Lego Theft: A man wearing all black, including a ski mask, stole almost $300 worth of Legos from the Target store in Marin City. The man was gone when deputies got to the scene. Store has video and will be on the lookout.

Bad Check: On Feb. 19 a Marin City resident told deputies that he did some work for an online company, received a check for the work, but the check was returned by the bank as a “bad” check. Service provided.

Tree Down: A 50-foot tree fell on Pinehill Road in Tam Valley. Deputies helped clear the roadway.

Gun: A kid in Marin City brandished a firearm in a parking lot on Donahue Street. He was cited.

Car vs. Tree: A car smacked into a tree in Nicasio. Deputies helped CHP at the scene. 

Removed: A former patient of a facility on Smith Ranch Road was at the facility and acting out. Deputies removed the man and booked him on an warrant.

MILL VALLEY

Barking Man: A known homeless person was acting strangely in front of a store. He barked at people, talked to himself and made weird movements with his body. Police talked to him. Did not want help, but may be wanted on a warrant out of San Diego. Police checking.

Guitar Man: The well-known man who carries a guitar and misbehaves in Mill Valley was at it again on Jan. 20. He appeared super wasted and was talking to himself in front of a grocery store. Gone when the police arrived.
